Meet Justin: A Dorson Scholar

Meet Justin!

An interesting fact: Justin had a perfect score on the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge test ( NJASK) in the third grade.

He loves the process of creation because it allows him to see how things come to life. This probably explains his love for the sciences.

Also interesting: Justin has traveled across the US to participate in competitive Bridge.

What are some of your hobbies?

Some of my hobbies are Basketball, Bridge, Skateboarding just a little, Video games and Exercising

What genre of music do you like?

I like Hip-Hop and Hip-Hop trap

What is your favorite movie?

As of right now I would say Spiderman into the Spidey-verse

Who is your favorite actor/artist/celebrity? Why?

Will Smith because he is funny, he's a family man, he has his own opinion, he is responsible, and I looked up to him.

If you use social media, which is your most preferred?

I prefer Instagram

Cake or ice cream?

I'm not a fan of sweets like that but I would choose cake

Would you like to live to 100? Why or why not?

Yes, because the chances of you being born is 1 out of 400 trillion, so I'm trying to live my life to the fullest.

If you won 1 million dollars today, what would you do with it?

I would invest 500,000 dollars so I could make more money and give 200,000 to my family and the 300,000 dollars left over is for me to decide.

If you could choose a superpower, what would you choose?

I would either choose to be like Spider-Man (Miles Morales verse) or have super speed.

Who/What is your inspiration? Why?

My inspiration is to help people because a lot of people need help but they're silent about it. People are going through problems and they just need someone to talk to, another one is to make things that get people smiling.

If you could send a message to your 30 year old self, what would it be?

I would ask him “How many people have you made smile?”

What are your three greatest takeaways from the Dorson Scholars Program after completing year one?

I learned how to write a resume,I learned that I should open up to different careers, and I learn about self-advocacy.
