Q & A: Getting to Know Rokssana Craig


Rokssana Craig - Member of Dorson's Board of Directors

Rokssana Craig has served on Dorson's Board of Directors since 2018. As a first-generation, low-income college student, she faced many challenges. Her journey inspired her to help students who share a similar background and are driven to achieve academic success. Rokssana's work with Success Academy Charter Schools, the highest achieving charter school network in NYC that serves low-income students, demonstrates her passion for working with under-served communities.

What is your personal philosophy?


Actions speak louder than words. That goes for me and everyone around me.


What three traits define you?


Direct, empathetic, strategic.


Who/What is your biggest inspiration?


My mother, her story of perseverance and grit inspires me to this day.


What is your favorite movie/song/book?


Movie - Imitation of Life.

What is your favorite word?


Reflection.


What’s your favorite slang? New or Old.


Aint nobody got time for that.


What’s your favorite breakfast food?


Bagels - all kinds of bagels, except salt.


If you were a crayon, what color would you be?


Robin’s egg blue.


Who is your favorite superhero?


Batman.


If you could pick up a new skill in an instant what would it be?


Speaking Bengali fluently.


What do you do in your spare time?


Baking sweet and savory treats, hiking, kayaking.


What’s your favorite place you’ve ever visited?


Many! If I have to pick one it would be New Orleans.


If you could choose a superpower, what would you choose? Why?


Mind reading. I’ve always been fascinated by what people are thinking and why.
